Chiropractors Only Treat Back and Neck Pain, Right?

Ask most people what chiropractors do, and the answers are pretty standard – they treat back and neck pain. But this is an all-too-common misconception. We of course do treat back and neck pain, but chiropractors do much more!

Chiropractors are nervous system doctors and non-surgical orthopedists. We do the same thing – diagnose and treat pain – just in a non-surgical, often less invasive way. Additionally, Dr. Adams and Dr. Vrbka have advanced training, allowing them to treat much more than back and neck pain.

In 2011, Dr. Adams completed a program for Advanced Certification in Brain Traumatology and Whiplash Associated Disorders from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. He was named a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists in 2015 after completing a rigorous four-year program. Dr. Adams is a member of the ACA Governor’s Advisory Cabinet. He is internationally certified in impairment and disability rating by the Board of Forensic Professionals.

Dr. Vrbka is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. He earned this certification in 2013 after extensive studies with the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. He is currently pursuing a Diplomate in the same field. He earned his Golf Injury Certification from the Blanchard Academy of Golf and is a Certified Kinesiotape Tape Practitioner.

Think of it like this: there are two kinds of basic conditions that affect the health of the human body – chemical problems and physical problems. Chemical problems include anemia, hypertension, and certain types of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (among others). Traditionally these are the problems you would see your medical doctor about. Other types of problems are physical problems: osteoarthritis, muscle spasms, sprain/strain injuries, many aches and pains. These require a physical treatment to the problem, and that’s where Advantage Chiropractic Clinic comes in.

Where medical doctors specialize in the study of medicine and focus on treating chemical problems, chiropractors spend four post-graduate years studying physical problems, how those problems change the human body and, most importantly, how we can give relief to our patients experiencing physical problems.

From manual adjustments used to help joints re-align to certain types of physical therapy, chiropractors are physical pain experts. It doesn’t matter whether that pain comes from your back and neck or if it’s in your pinky toe or jaw. Dr. Adams and Dr. Vrbka can evaluate what ails you.

Advantage Chiropractic Clinic is an Auburn, Alabama-based clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions and ailments. Dr. Brad Adams and Dr. Tom Vrbka are highly trained specialists with advanced chiropractic training who can assist with acute or chronic pain.
