Improving Your Reaction Time With Chiropractic Care

improving your reaction time with chiropractic careAmong the multitude of things that chiropractic care can benefit is your reaction time. Several studies have showed that chiropractic care may improve reaction time in people with misalignments or subluxations in the cervical spine (neck). In one study, volunteer subjects were divided into two groups—people with one cervical subluxation and people with two subluxations. The subjects were given a series of tasks testing their reaction times. The results showed that people with two subluxations had significantly slower reaction times than people with just one.

The more complex the task, the broader the disparity between the two test groups. When asked to complete a task in which subjects were asked to press the letter “J” on a keyboard when they saw a crosshair symbol appear on a computer screen while tracking a moving target on the same screen, the group with one subluxation was 5/100 of a second faster than the group with two subluxations.

Though this seems like a small difference, according to the “butterfly effect,” a very slight difference in the way a process begins can make a significant difference in how that process concludes.

Imagine that you went to the chiropractor to have a subluxation adjusted and eliminated. On the way home, your reaction time was 5/100ths of a second faster than it was before—the amount of time it took you to slam on your brakes in time to prevent an accident.

Improving your reaction time with chiropractic care could have positive life-changing repercussions—even if it’s just the slightest speed up.
